Frequently asked questions
FAQ
Answers to the questions we are most frequently asked about Ferall compactable warehouses. Can't find what you're looking for? Write to us directly.
How much does a compactable warehouse cost?
The cost depends on dimensions, number of aisles, level of automation and finishes required. Systems range from compact solutions to complete configurations with WMS integration and Industry 4.0. Crucially, the cost should always be weighed against the value of the space gained: in many cases ROI is achieved in under three years. Contact us for a no-obligation quote.
How long does installation take?
A standard compactable system (4–6 aisles, medium load) is typically installed in 3–7 working days. Larger or more complex installations with advanced automation may take 2–4 weeks. Our team coordinates with you to minimise operational disruption during the works.
Can it be installed on an existing floor?
Yes, in most cases. Ferall systems can be adapted to floors already in use, provided the load-bearing capacity is sufficient for the total intended load. Before installation we always carry out a technical site survey to assess the structural characteristics of the floor. If necessary, we recommend any reinforcement or preparatory work.
Does it work with shelving from other manufacturers?
Yes. Ferall mobile bases are designed to be compatible with most metal shelving available on the market. If you already have installed shelving you would like to retain, we can assess integration into your compactable system without replacing it.
What is the maximum load capacity?
Ferall motorised mobile bases are available with a load capacity of 12 to 48 tonnes per bay, suitable for a wide range of applications — from light logistics to heavy sectors such as automotive and manufacturing. A 64-tonne version for extreme-load applications is currently in engineering development. During the design phase we dimension the system based on the actual weight of the stored materials.
What is WMS / Industry 4.0 integration?
Our systems can be connected to your Warehouse Management System (WMS) via standard protocols. This allows the correct aisle to open automatically in response to a pick order, track movements in real time and collect performance data. The system is configured to your operational logic, with no technology constraints.
Is the system safe for operators?
Absolutely. All Ferall motorised systems are fitted with presence sensors that stop base movement as soon as an operator is detected in the aisle. We comply with European machinery safety regulations (Machinery Directive) and supply full CE documentation.
Do you offer anti-seismic solutions?
Yes. Ferall has developed and patented its own anti-seismic system, certified to current regulations. This technology protects the structure and stored materials in the event of a seismic event and is particularly recommended for installations in high-risk zones. It is available as an option on all our compactable systems.
Do you offer post-installation support?
Yes. We offer planned maintenance contracts and 24-hour remote technical support. In the event of anomalies, the system can send automatic alerts to our support centre. We are able to diagnose and resolve the majority of issues remotely, without the need for an on-site visit.
